Overview

The Sr. Benefits Analyst is responsible for supporting all employee benefit programs including administration of the defined contribution (401k and profit sharing), defined benefit plans as well as health and welfare matters.

The position will also conduct analytical analysis which includes the ability to analyze data to make comparisons and draw conclusions; identify cause and effect relationships to solve complex problems.

The Senior Benefits Analyst will work with internal and external vendors and auditors to perform analysis and audits to the programs and plans and resolve issues.

The Senior Benefits Analyst will provide back up for existing staff relating to all programs, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to employee inquiries related to all benefit plans.
  • Work with accounting, treasury, finance, human resources, information technology, business unit staff and employees to address matters relating to benefit related payroll deductions and monthly vendor payments including ensuring that all benefits related transactions are properly recorded on employee paychecks, employee W2 forms and the company’s books and records.
  • Establish and direct strong internal audits and controls with the emphasis on maintaining integrity, accuracy, security, and integrity of human resources related data. Work with internal and external auditors during audits to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor compliance with federal regulatory requirements. Analyze new legislation and regulations and recommend changes necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Audit interface files between outsourced vendors and HRIS/Payroll system, validate the accuracy of the files and provide solutions where issues may exist, and/or improved processes where needed
  • Primary administrator for benefit related systems.
  • Maintain and update plan documents, summary plan descriptions and contracts for benefit plans.
  • Review the current processes and implementing process changes to meet the continued growth of company.
  • Ability to conduct thorough research & analysis and apply critical thinking skills to develop findings and recommendations
  • Responsibilities also include day-to-day benefits administration and vendor management.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Benefits related certification beneficial
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required with advanced skills in Excel and Access preferred
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Project management skills required
  • Must be extremely detail oriented.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources/business administration or equivalent experience

 

Experience:

Five or more years of experience in benefits, human resources or similar work.
